It’s one of those gloomy, rainy days when it is supposed to snow but hasn’t yet and is instead just pouring down rain and cold enough to permanently freeze my butt cheeks to the couch.

It’s the kind of day where you need to stay in your jammies, which are actually a pair of sweatpants and two layered tanktops and a bleach stained sweatshirt and not pretty, fun patterned jammies at all. They are gross even when they are clean and smelling nice. But you can’t stay in your jammies all day because yesterday was Sunday and Sunday is homework day and you always stay in your jammies on homework day. I think two days and two nights in the same pair of sweatpants is pushing the barrier of acceptable- even for a part-time stay at home person.

And staying in your jammies means no shower. If you are going to shower, why not just get dressed? Two days without a shower is two too many. I am absolutely an every day shower kind of girl. Sundays are an aberration. A weekly aberration.

Which might mean it’s a tradition. Traditionally I don’t shower or get dressed on Sundays.

But Monday? I always get showered and dressed on Monday. I may even apply a wee bit of mascara on Monday to make up for the lack of hygiene on Sunday. It’s like in the Emily books when her teacher wears his good coat on Monday to make up for getting too drunk on the weekend.

Mascara is my good coat.

And here I am- still in my jammies- watching the rain pour down. Unshowered. I feel disgusting but I can’t make myself get up and do anything about it. Tomorrow I am going to have to put eye-shadow on with my mascara. And possibly lip-gloss.

Then I’ll sit around the kitchen coloring with Star.

That’s how I rock.

Oh wait- it’s snowing. Now I totally feel justified in my jammie wearing. Nevermind.

Snow absolutely negates the need to get dressed or apply mascara. Seriously.

I’m glad somebody else doesn’t shower on Sundays. It’s my cleaning day – and I procrastinate, so if I ever DO get to showering – it’s very late. My outfit of choice is an old tee-shirt, yoga pants and God help me – no regular bra!

(a sports bra. not that I engage in any sports.)

I am totally hoping for a pajama wearing Wednesday. Bet, I won’t get it though. I try to stay in my PJs as long as possible on Sat. but sooner or later I have to go out. and so, I shower…

Mmmmmm… having a baby under the age of one is my catch-all excuse for jammies. Henry turned one on the second of this month, hence the jeans and sweater even with the foot or so of snow outside. I’ll take daytime clothes over babies any day of the week, K thnx bai.
