My internal alarm clock? set to 10:30 am
Every single one of my kid’s internal Alarm clocks? Set to 5:30 am
My idea of how one should wake up? Slowly, with coffee and an appropriate amount of lounging on the couch until fully awake.
My kids idea of how one should wake up? Loudly, with Cartoons and crunchy cereal. Crunch crunch crunch. And another glass of milk. Would you get some more milk, Mama? Huh? Now will you? How about now? Why aren’t you getting me more milk Mama? Huh? How come? Will you do it now Mama? Why are you hiding under the blanket, Mama? You wanna play? Huh, Mama?
Dear Children,
Getting out of bed way too early is bad enough, do you have to be so very AWAKE when you do it? Go back to bed.
Love, Mama

Oh God do I hear you! My son gets up usually around 6 everyday. I’m so not ready to get up. You’re right, an ideal morning would be way slower. I could lay in bed, stretch around, doze – it could take 20 minutes.
You’re right about breakfast too. I’m not even out of bed yet and my 2 year old is begging for breakfast. Sometimes toast, sometimes cheerios, sometimes pork chops.

Finally Dash has started sleeping in. That is 2 out of the 3. JJ, on the other hand, likes to start his day by 5:45. Sometimes, on the weekend, we get 6:30. And then, we get a jumping, squirming, poking, chocolate milk wanting, cartoon watching crazy little kid.

Me? I am a lucky ducky. All my kids get up between 7 and 7:30 pretty much any day.
Not the Henry boy of course… but he usually keeps it to once or twice a night unless teething.
He’s teething.
