Does your snow look like this?*

Fluff and stuff from Jennifer on Vimeo.

Like someone in Heaven decided that tonight they were craving fried chicken and the only chickens available needed plucking. Then all of the other angels decided they wanted fried chicken too. So, they have a chicken plucking party that rains fluffy white feathers down on earth. Fried chicken must be huge in Heaven.

What? You think everyone in Heaven is a vegan? If I can’t get some fried chicken and a juicy filet in Heaven, well, I’d rather not go. And don’t start with the “you’re dead and don’t need to eat” spiel. I’ve seen the Philly Cream Cheese commercials. Angels eat. I expect that everything is calorie free and delicious in Heaven.

Where was I? Oh, the snow… Ours always looks like feathers or cotton. It’s like all the snow flakes get caught together on their way down to make up mutant snow bundles. I don’t remember ever seeing this kind of cottoney snow any where else. The snow I saw in Big Bear as a kid was always icy and made of small, individual flakes. Maybe I’m just a little too fascinated by the idea of snow outside my door? I obsess about these kinds of things. It’s a sickness.

Speaking of the Sick…

(Catch up, people. Today is all about the randomness.)

The Kid has decided that she is going to spend the rest of winter in the grips of the Sick. She hasn’t missed a single cold yet. As soon as she is over one cold, another one is on it’s tail. Yesterday she was sick enough to skip dinner and chose to go to bed instead. She got to stay home today because of this choice. My children don’t skip meals. Ever. They stand behind me while I cook dinner looking at me with their big puppy dog eyes, whimpering about being starving. You’ve seen the Feed the Children commercials? That is my kitchen every night. It’s all hungry eyes and sad, snotty faces around here.

Sick 1 and Sick 2

The Baby has decided that if the Kid gets to be sick, so does she. Apparently Sick is the way to live. You get a bed on the couch and all the juice you can drink. I won’t even mention the obscene amount of cartoon watching that goes on around here when the Sick is town. The Baby needs to work on her acting skillz though. She manages a couple minutes of Sick before she jumps up to find out what everyone else is doing. She could miss something going on in a corner of the house if she lets her guard down. Clearly the world would stop turning if the Baby wasn’t here to witness it. Thank goodness for all of us that she has blessed us with her presence on earth. I’m not sure how we survived so long without her helpful gaze.

Whee! Hang on folks, this is going to be abrupt.

I don’t know what about The Baby made me think about this, but it suddenly flew into my head. I’ve always had a thing about drinking a cup of tea before bed. I like to snuggle under a blanket and sip my tea while I watch TV or play on the computer. It’s comforting. I even do it in the Summer with sweat dripping down my back. (There’s a picture for you. Lovely.) Last year I cut back tremendously on my coffee intake and ended up with an unexpected result. Lately my beloved nighttime cuppa has been keeping me up at night. That weensy bit of caffeine has been keeping me up until twelve or later. The mornings around here aren’t pretty. Six a.m. is still six a.m. no matter what time you went to bed. It’s always so darn timely.

Can anyone in Bloggyland recommend a tea that won’t keep me up?

Preferably not flavored or fruity. Unless you know of some amazing flavored tea concoction that will help me drift off into dreamland that I absolutely must try. I’d be willing to give almost anything a whirl except giving up my tea habit. I’ve even cleared out a whole row in my tea box for the new additions. See? I’m counting on you, people.

Waiting for a new addition

Don’t let me down.

*Vimeo? I like you.. You’re cute and bright and catchy. As much as I love watching YouTube, putting my own videos up there for the world to see is a little scary. So, you seem like an acceptable alternative. Except when it takes an hour to upload a video to your site? I feel like screaming and pulling my hair out. Just thought I’d mention it.

Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Time tea. So good.
In a pinch, cammomile tea works too.

I drink tea at night sometimes. And sometimes it keeps me up and other times it does not. I am a big fan of English tea and I have thought of seeing if they have a decaf version. Don’t know.

You have sooo many things to comment on here, but I am going to wait until I am home and my computer isn’t blocking your pictures and then I will be back…just like the Terminator (the Govenator to you).

You probably aren’t into green tea – it normally has too faint a taste for me – but I’ve been seriously digging this green tea one of my client makes. go to teatech.com – they sell online and in some stores too. It’s like “strong” green tea…? I don’t know. I can’t describe it. I just totally love it – and it’s supposed to be really good for you too. (I usually buy their unsweetened stuff and then sweeten it myself – because I don’t like it TOO sweet…)

OK, I can see your pictures now! I love the pictures of the girls on the couch! So cute! But, I do think you need a little less caffeine :)

Right now I am drinking tea! Thanks for the inspiration! I hope i am not up all night now.

Hi! Frequent lurker finds time to comment because kids are sleeping in.

I too have bee drinking tea, because of a lingering sore throat, and then couldn’t figure out why I had the 9:30 pm burst of energy. Teas are tough. I have bought a bunch that I don’t end up liking. And then random stray tea bags in my pantry end up being perfect.

Try Tazo teas “Calm” and “Refresh.”

    Hope everyone feels better!

Lora- Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve tried the sleepy time tea and it has a very light flavor. I think I need something a little stronger. Which may be impossible!

FastLane- Where you up all night?

Jennifer- I am not a big fan of green tea. The flavor is so boring… I think I will check out your suggestion though. Thanks!

Vero- Hello! Thanks for stopping by and commenting! I LOVE Tazo tea. I think I’ll try those first. Thanks!

You’re drinking the most caffeine-laden tea there is you crazy lady! Well, except for black tea. I wholeheartedly agree with Tazo “Calm” for bedtime drinking. I loves it long time.

  8. [...] with that theory. I’ve sent mail to Edmund, where did my package go? And where does all my insomnia-inducing tea come from if Harrods doesn’t exist? AND WHERE DID MY PARENTS VACATION LAST YEAR? (Those [...]
