What about chocolate HobNobs? Don't those count as a cookie? Those are English and they are great.

Do they still have Hula Hoops (like a potato chip ring), those are good too.

And speaking of rice krispie treats, my favorite Italian/American fusion dish: rice krispie treats with nutella on top.

Don't get me wrong, the people of Illinois are very, very lovely. It's just that Illinois itself is so big and mostly so flat and empty, that you don't have to be there long before Missouri starts looking foreign and exotic...

To be fair, you have so much Geography of your own to learn about, it's not surprising you're a little sketchy on the rest of the world. Europeans often don't realise how big the States are.

Just to fill you in: The English dance around waving hankies with bells strapped to their socks, everyone in Scotland wears a kilt (even in the shower) and the Welsh eat leeks. Ireland is famous for its potatoes. (Kind of like Idaho but with more leprechauns).

As for being stupid... I spent a year in Illinois. One woman told me that my English was very good for an exchange student. I pointed out that I was from England. The woman in question, in genuine surprise, said, "You mean they speak English in England!" Her friend very quickly changed the subject...

Other people were asked how we celebrate July 4th over here. Oh, and a Spanish exchange student I knew was asked if they had trees where he came from.

I suspect your knowledge of the world is better than that!

Right, I'm off for some steak-and-kidney pie and a deep-fried chocolate bar with Ron and Hermione...

Cheers,

Edmund.

PS Thanks for the link!
